New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo & Libra Equinox
A sacred threshold of refinement, rebalancing, and renewal. A time to tend to your temple, clarify your commitments, and walk forward with embodied devotion.
I’m not writing this from my usual nest in the California mountains, but from a high-rise in the heart of New York City - where I’ve been working and living this past week. Before this trip, I hadn’t slept in a city for over eight years. I’ve chosen instead to live close to the land, syncing my nervous system with the rhythms of nature. While I spent much of my childhood and early adult life weaving in and out of cities, when I began my healing journey at 30, one thing was clear: I needed stillness and the presence of Mother Earth to find my way back to center.
I’m grateful for those years of deep listening and rewilding. The raw, unrefined essence of nature helped me remember my own. It’s taken time, patience, and devotion. But now, writing from a place far removed from the canyon I call home, I realize I’ve crossed a quiet threshold: my sense of equilibrium no longer feels tethered to my surroundings. The stillness I cultivated in the forest has come with me. I’ve carried the trees into the city.
If I had to distill the energy of this eclipse portal into one word, it would be: sobering.
Yes, I can live among the trees…but I cannot hide in them. The cocoon served its purpose but now I see: the next chapter of healing isn’t about retreat. It’s about return. Embodied participation. Sharing the essence I’ve cultivated in solitude.
This is the message of the Virgo–Pisces eclipse axis: spirit and structure, mystery and form, dream and devotion. Pisces brings us home to the invisible. Virgo anchors that vision into the visible. And healing - true, sustainable healing - requires both.
All of that being said, I still have one more week in NYC before I return to my mountain nest. And a few weeks after that, I’ll be reuniting with my oracle sisters for a week of ritual and magic amidst the redwoods of Northern California. And while I’m looking forward to returning to my natural habitat (and grateful for the distance that’s helped me realize how right that rhythm is for me) it’s been profoundly empowering to discover that my center is not dependent on it. My peace and health are more resilient than I once believed.
Tending the Temple, Embracing the Threshold
Solar Eclipse in Virgo • Libra Equinox Portal • September 2025
I keep coming back to this phrase: the frequency of your habits becomes the frequency of your life. And nowhere is that more clear than in the current astrology.
We're standing at a powerful threshold - an eclipse season in the doorway of the equinox. This isn’t a distant idea or something to jot down and forget. It’s alive in the breath you’re taking, the weight you feel in your body, the truth pressing gently against your awareness - asking to be honored, integrated, and lived.
And so the Solar Eclipse in Virgo on September 21 is not just an amplified New Moon - it’s a cosmic reset point. A re-dedication to your life temple. A moment to clear out what’s false, cluttered, draining, or rooted in old conditioning so that the next chapter - the one you can feel in your bones - has fertile ground to take root.
And just hours later, we arrive at the Libra Equinox - one of the four sacred hinge points of the year. A moment when the Earth and sky find perfect balance, and we’re asked to do the same. Which is not just poetic, but instructional. Nature is showing us how to live.
Solar Eclipse in Virgo: The Purification Point
September 21, 2025 at 12:54 pm PST • 29° Virgo
The eclipse falls at 29° Virgo - the final, most intense degree of the sign. The place where Virgo’s teachings reach a crescendo. Where clarity can no longer be delayed. If the past few months have felt like one long purification process…they have been.
Virgo is the archetype of refinement - not in the superficial sense of polish or perfection - but in the sacred sense of devotion to what is true. Virgo teaches that, through ritual, the intangible becomes tangible. That healing isn’t always dramatic. That the tiny, unglamorous acts we perform each day are the foundation of our life’s direction.
At this eclipse, the invitation is clear:
What are you ready to release…not because it’s bad, but because it’s no longer true?
What would it look like to organize your life around your deepest integrity - not your productivity or perfectionism?
This is a time to return to the altar of your own life and ask:
What am I actually worshipping through my habits?
If Pisces (our last lunar eclipse) asked us to surrender, Virgo asks us to structure. This isn’t about micromanaging the future. It’s about building the internal scaffolding - the embodied clarity - that allows the mystery to flow through without overwhelming us.
Virgo’s medicine is practical, embodied, and exacting.
Not harsh, but honest. Not cold, but clear.
Libra Equinox: Crossing the Threshold
September 22, 2025 at 11:19 am PST • Sun at 0° Libra
The Equinox is exact just after the eclipse, when the Sun moves into Libra and the wheel turns again. We shift from Earth (Virgo) to Air (Libra). From inner analysis to outer balance. From devotion to the self to devotion to the field between self and other.
Libra is the priestess of right relationship. And this Equinox - falling just after a Solar Eclipse at the critical degree - is no ordinary balancing point. It’s a cosmic mirror asking:
Now that you’ve clarified your values…how do you live them in connection?
Where do your relationships reflect your sovereignty and where do they require adjustment?
There’s a beauty to this handoff from Virgo to Libra. Virgo helps us clarify the self. Libra helps us express that self with grace, truth, and diplomacy. This is not about shrinking or smoothing things over. It’s about showing up with coherence. With honesty. With sacred reciprocity.
The Birth Canal of New Earth
Something I keep feeling - when looking at the broader configuration involving Pluto in Aquarius, Uranus retrograde in Gemini, Saturn and Neptune in Pisces - is that we are in a birth canal. And this Virgo–Pisces eclipse axis is helping us prepare for what’s coming through.
This isn’t a passive process. New Earth isn’t going to passively arrive. It will be born through us - through our bodies, our choices, our relationships, our creative courage.
Virgo says: Prime the vessel. Pisces says: Trust the current.
Libra says: Walk with beauty and integrity as you do so.
This eclipse season, we are being invited to take radical responsibility for how we participate in this rebirth - through choosing what is ours to tend.
Questions to Sit With
Where am I still outsourcing my power - hoping to be rescued, instead of stepping into agency?
“Which rhythms and rituals continue to tether me to an outdated version of myself? How might I consecrate my daily actions - transforming routine into devotion and habit into holy practice?”
Where have I confused avoidance for surrender?
How can I meet my pain with presence instead of shame or escape?
What kind of relational dynamics am I available for now and what needs to shift?
Final Thoughts
The Virgo Solar Eclipse is not just a blank slate. It’s a sacred pruning. A recalibration. A reclaiming.
And the Libra Equinox is not just a seasonal shift. It’s a balancing of the scales - within and without. A moment to pause and ask: Am I walking in alignment with the truth I say I believe in?
You don’t need a perfect plan. You need a clear intention.
You don’t need to be flawless. You need to be faithful.
You don’t need to rush. You need to trust.
So tend to your temple. And walk through the door.
We are becoming the vessels through which the next world will be born.
With devotion,
Lily
